University challenge no match for victorious Bath

The UK’s first University Padel Championships were dominated by Bath, with its teams taking first and second places in the tournament

Thirty-two players contested the title of top padel uni, with squads from the universities of Bristol (three teams – padel, tennis and squash), Exeter, Bath, Oxford Brookes, West of England and Plymouth vying for top spot at Padel4all in Bristol.

Interest in padel is growing in universities across the country. Leeds was the first to establish a padel society (read the story here, page 44), and George Modler of Golden Point Padel which organised the uni tournament, is confident that many more will follow.

“There was a really good level of padel on display,” he told The Bandeja. “It was really good to see uni students getting involved and competing against each other. We are all really excited to grow and develop the sport in universities.”

Plans are already in place for the University Padel Championships Pt 2, being held on February 21st at Padel4all. And George definitely knows his market – entry includes free pizza, drinks and the all-important prizes! Full details here. 🎾
