Nottingham Padel Centre is lining up a packed programme of events after signing up WPA Nottingham as its official technical partner.

The four court centre at Notts County football club opened last November and has proved a hit with locals, bringing the game to a previously ‘padel deprived’ city with an already strong sporting history, including tennis and squash.

Football club owners, Danish brothers Alex and Christoffer Reedtz, invested in the outdoor courts after seeing the sport’s massive growth in Scandinavia.

Now WPA Nottingham is working side-by-side with the facility to further build its padel community, organising a range of events for all ages from open, ladies and seniors mix-ins to 7am club, social sessions, tournaments, coaching, leagues, a dedicated children’s programme and corporate events.

Community

WPA (World Padel Academy) is an established court operator in the Middle East and has plans to bring its highly regarded operation to the UK with padel clubs of its own; spokesman James Bowring explained that partnering with facilities here is the first step to establishing the brand outside the UAE.

“We are excited about working with Nottingham Padel Centre,” said James. “Our main objective is to grow the community by providing more content for people to sign up to and enjoy socially and competitively. It also gives players a taste of what we do and there may be the opportunity to bring WPA coaches and sponsored players over from Dubai.”

WPA supports WPL

Emirati WPA Academy players Fares Al Janahi and Abdullah Al Abdulla took part in the recent World Padel League in Dubai, representing their country in each of the franchise teams. The four-day event, held at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena, featured 24 of the world’s top male and female players, including Fernando Belasteguin, Gemma Triay, Carlos Daniel Gutiérrez, Alejandra Salazar and Franco Stupaczuk. 🎾
