Getting to grips with the padel racket grip

Just starting out in padel and trying to figure out the best way to hold your racket? We asked top coach Dan Troy, of DT Padel Academy, for some quick tips.

Dan said: “In padel we want to use the continental grip (or chopper grip) as much as possible. There are exceptions, for example moving round to a backhand grip or to an ‘eastern’ backhand grip for a smash to get the required kick on the ball, or if the ball is very low off the wall. But on the whole we want to use the continental grip.”

In the video below Dan shows how to locate the continental grip.
