Wilmslow-based The Padel Club has revealed designs for its first club in the south west of England – a nine court indoor facility in Gloucester aimed to be open by October.
The £1 million venue, in the former Toys R Us store in Gloucester Quays Retail Park, will provide high-spec panoramic courts, social areas, pro shop, work areas and a cafe.
Kris Ball, Founder and CEO of The Padel Club, said: “It is incredibly exciting to see the designs of our Gloucester Quays Club. We are now full steam ahead and working hard to get the site built and operational at the earliest opportunity. We are looking forward to being a thriving social hub amongst so many other great businesses in the area.”
Interiors experts Zynk Design are delivering the vision for the interiors, exterior and social spaces of the facility, with a focus on ensuring its layout encourages social interaction and networking, tying in with The Padel Club’s values of a strong sense of sociability.
Chris Illingworth, of Zynk Design, said, “Our design has been created with an emphasis on social interaction, competition, and community that caters to different aspects of the sport and its social culture. At the heart of the facility will be the courts, designed to meet professional standards, ensuring an optimal playing experience for all skill levels. The main competition court is furnished with mini grandstand spectator seating, allowing friends, family and community members to watch games comfortably.”
Sports commentator and former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan, an original investor in The Padel Club and advocate for padel, said: “It’s brilliant to see the designs of the Gloucester Quays club. We are very excited for the conversion to begin.”
Fellow cricketer Jos Buttler said: “Padel really is the on-trend sport! Whenever I get the opportunity to play, around my cricket schedule and home life, it’s always a good time. Padel is incredibly addictive. The announcement that The Padel Club has acquired a site in Gloucester is exciting news.”
Kris Ball established The Padel Club in Wilmslow, Cheshire, two years ago. It is currently four outdoor courts with four covered courts following shortly. In addition to the new club in Gloucester, it is developing an 11 court facility at TraffordCity, Manchester. Investors include sportsmen Michael Vaughan, Jos Buttler, Steph Houghton, James Milner, Shay Given and Joleon Lescott. 🎾
