The UK’s first-ever one-day padel festival for all players aged 59 years and over has been announced.
The trailblazing Super Seniors Padel Festival is being organised by members of the GB Seniors padel squad with team member Nicky Horn acting as tournament director. It is being held on November 4th at The Padel Hub, Slough, which is sponsoring the event.
Entries are now open for The Legends Cup (women’s 59+ category and men’s 59+ category) and The Phoenix Cup (women’s 69+ category). Numbers are limited to 12 pairs per category and age qualification is at least 59 or 69 years on 31/12/2023.
Share your passion, strength and determination. Together let’s make this the start of more to come for super senior players.
Entry is £50 per pair – to enter e-mail superspadelfestival@gmail.com with the name and contact number of each player and the category/ies being entered.
Sally Fisher, GB Seniors Women’s Padel Manager said: “We want to ensure that older players have the same opportunities to compete on a level playing field as their younger counterparts. At the moment, the oldest age category for women on the LTA padel circuit is 50+ and there are only occasional LTA tournaments for the 60+ male players. This doesn’t reflect the full spectrum of active talented athletes and sports people who are passionate about their padel and love to compete and develop.
“As the FIP International circuit introduced a 60+ category for men and women at this year’s Senior European Championships we felt it important that padel in the UK provides great opportunities for the older players as much as the younger ones.
“We are looking forward to a day of fantastic competition, sporting spirit and new friendships. Huge thanks to Sally Brown and Rosie Connell who are instrumental in helping to organise this trailblazing event.” 🎾
