The Hexagon Cup: what you need to know

The Hexagon Cup kicks off tomorrow (January 29th) in Madrid, running through to Sunday at Madrid Arena. We round-up what you need to know about the event, including where to watch it.

The Hexagon Cup launched last year with the motto ‘For the Fans. For the Players. For the Game’, promising a new and exciting team format padel competition with some of the biggest names in pro padel competing, backed by celebrity and high-profile team owners from business and sport.

For 2025 team numbers have risen from six to eight, each with a men’s, women’s and ‘next gen’ category. They are vying for a massive €1.2 million prize pot, believed to be the biggest in padel to date.

GB tennis hero Andy Murray’s team AD/vantage took victory in the inaugural event and is returning to defend the title, this year with the additional team backing of Brit boxing superstar Anthony Joshua. Playing for AD/vantage are padel pros Martín Di Nenno/Juan Tello and Delfi Brea/Sofía Araujo plus next generation talent Martina Calvo/Marta Borrero (the next-gen category is female this year).

America actress/producer Eva Longoria is another returning team boss. She heads up team Eleven Eleven and was one of the few celebrities who attended last year’s event. She has the legendary Fernando Belasteguín on her team (partnering Valentino Libaak), with Paula Josemaría/Alejandra Alonso contesting the female event and next-gen talents Lorena Rufo and Raquel Eugenio.

New for 2024 is team 10 Padel, backed by F1 driver Pierre Gasly, a committed padel fan. The remaining five teams are: Robert Lewandowski’s team RL9, Rafa Nadal Academy, KRU Padel (backers include Leo Messi), Bella Puerto Rica, and the Hexagon Cup team.

Last year attracted a large number of padel fans from the UK keen to witness top-flight padel in person. 🎾
